In order to expand the range of pharmaceutical manufacturing services into APIs, a plant near Basel in Switzerland was acquired in 2009. This acquisition has broaden the scope of contract manufacturing services provided by The Group from secondary manufacture into primary manufacturing – Drug’on Pharma Switzerland.
Following the success of this operation, The Group acquired a modern sterile manufacturing plant at another location also near Rome and undertook a major upgrading of facilities, equipment and technologies to establish a very modern, high technology plant for the manufacture of a wide range of sterile dosage forms – Injectalia.

Drug’On Pharma Switzerland was the latest company to be incorporated into the Orofino Pharmaceuticals group. The group acquired the former Knoll and Abbott production site in Liestal, Switzerland. The chemical production site produces active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and intermediates. The site consists of four different chemical production buildings and has highly specialised employees.
