VIRUS – The only way to avert the Covid-19 pandemic is to get vaccinated.

A virus (from the Latin vīrus, ‘poison’) is a biological entity with characteristics of an obligate parasite, as it replicates exclusively within the cells of organisms. Viruses can infect all forms of life, from animals, plants and microorganisms (including other infectious agents such as bacteria) to other viruses.
In 1892, Dimitri Ivanovsky first identified the virus by describing in an article that a non-bacterial pathogen was able to infect tobacco plants.
Then in 1898 Martinus Beijerinck discovered the tobacco mosaic virus.
Since then, about 5’000 virus species have been described in detail.
It is believed that there are millions of viruses in the environment.
Viruses are found in almost every ecosystem on Earth and are the most abundant biological entity of all.
Virology is a sub-specialty of microbiology and is the discipline that deals with the study of viruses.
Since Jenner’s extraordinary intuition, mankind has, thanks to vaccines and vaccinations, completely eradicated serious diseases that have claimed millions of victims.

In 1796, the English doctor Edward Jenner implemented an extraordinary idea, that of teaching the immune system to recognize the pathogenic agent that had intruded into the body, and to prepare the necessary defenses in the event of infection.
Once administered, vaccines simulate first contact with the infectious agent, evoking an immunological response similar to that caused by natural infection, but without causing the disease and its complications.
Immunological memory is the principle by which the immune system has the ability to remember which foreign micro-organisms have attacked our organism in the past and to respond quickly with antibodies produced at the time of the artificially provoked false infection.
Without vaccination, it can take longer for our bodies to produce enough antibodies to fight the virus than it would take for the micro-organism to cause damage to our bodies.

Since vaccine invention, humanity has defeated the main diseases by which it was plagued.
Smallpox, Chickenpox, Covid-19, Hepatitis A and B, Human Papillomavirus, Influenza (Flu), Measles, Mumps, Poliomyelitis, Rotavirus, Rubella, Rabies are just a few of the diseases caused by viruses that can be prevented and defeated with vaccinations.
